Jaleesa Epps

Jaleesa is a business support associate for Wells Fargo. She has a Masters of Science in Leadership Development with a concentration in Talent Development from Drake University. She also has a bachelor's degree in Technical Communication from Iowa State University. In her spare time, she is a guest blogger for Des Moines Mom where she writes about my experiences as a mama of three beautiful babies--triplets!

Session Summary

As part of the Masters of Science in Leadership Development program at Drake University, Jaleesa completed an original study for her capstone research project. This served as a culmination of her graduate school experience. This session explores how perceived job search bias and discrimination affects the job search of African Americans. The session will include past case studies of bias and discrimination in the workplace and also go over the results of her study, in which she asked participants about their experiences, if any, and how it affected the number of future job applications submitted.

Session Takeaways

After the session, you'll walk away with more awareness regarding how job search bias and discrimination affects minorities, specifically African Americans.

You will also build personal capability in recognizing the importance of cultural awareness and inclusion. And bring your knowledge and skills in integrating diversity and inclusion principles in talent development strategies and initiatives to your organizations.
