Knowing the Business: Business Acumen for the Training Professional

Presented by: Dan Topf, CPT

During this interactive and engaging 3 hour session, you will be provided essential knowledge regarding company financial matters, as well as practical definitions of terminology and concepts. We’ll challenge you as training pros to apply business thinking to coherent advocacy for training in your organization. We’ll define the trainer’s role with regard to the company’s financial results, and we’ll explore ways he or she can advocate and influence revenue, costs, and company performance.   

After the session, the participants will be able to:

  • Read fundamental financial statements of the business – Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Statements of Cash Flows
  • Fluently identify the relevant meanings of company key financial terms, ratios, and business strategies most relevant to their company
  • Coherently advocate for your training and its business results
  • Commit to specific actions to follow through on your learning

  3. The Assets and Who Owns Them – The Balance Sheet

Learning Approach

The participants will be engaged in a real-life case during seminar. We’ll use interactive exercises, discussions, presentations, and practices to provide lots of interaction, relevance, and meaning. Learners will also make a special effort to connect the content to training projects and training management to encourage application and follow through.

Trainers, learning professionals, e-learning developers, training managers, talent managers, and other HR professionals who create and deliver learning experiences for business.
